DNS Queries: UDP Compared to TCP

Because DNS queries are sent via UDP, this protocol makes up the largest share of DNS traffic - as is to be expected. However, queries are still made via TCP because the size of UDP packets is limited, meaning that TCP is used for very large DNS queries or responses.

 

How to use the interactive charts

You can zoom in on charts with a timeline by selecting an area with your mouse.
