Since the start of the Internet in Switzerland, SWITCH has been the registry for domain names ending in .ch and .li and has ensured that they have been accessible from all over the globe. SWITCH registers and administers .ch domain names for direct customers on a reliable and correct basis on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM). SWITCH acts as the .li registry for recognised Partners on behalf of the Office of Telecommunications of the Principality of Liechtenstein. As an independent Foundation, SWITCH performs these responsible functions with a high level of technical competence. It thus makes a key contribution to the stability of the Internet.
NIC Liechtenstein, the registry for .li domain names, now has its own website at www.nic.li. It contains general information and legal details concerning domain names ending in .li as well as a domain name search tool. Support for customers and holders of .li domain names has already been completely transferred to SWITCH's recognised Partners. These domain names are thus exclusively registered and administered by these Partners.
Continued steady growth in the number of domain names being registered means that SWITCH has been in a position to cut the price of a domain name to CHF 15.50 with effect from 1 February 2014.
